The Joys of Pregnancy

Feb 02, 2010 09:53

4 weeks (10/6-10/12)
- Took two pregnancy tests and turns out.....I'M PREGNANT!  Only took us 1 try!
- Pat and Kathy know. Pat came up to me in the bathroom and said, "You're pregnant aren't you?"  She knows me too well!
- Told John by giving him a "My Dad's a Geek" onesie. He was shocked but also excited. Didn't think I could love him more but I do.
- Had to tell Lisa right away and then Carm.  John told Tom and a few people at work.  And then I posted the news on LJ. I can't keep a secret.
- While kissing John goodbye in the morning, he called me "Momma" and put his head on my belly.
- Hungry all the time...I eat and I'm hungry 10 minutes later.  Have a drawer full of snacks at work.

5 weeks (10/13-10/19)
- Tired all the time...napping all weekend long.  And have a constant need to pee.  Skin is breaking out like crazy, face, neck and back.
- Sense of smell is greatly enhanced.  The garbage is my enemy and John has to empty it every day to keep me happy.  For the first time in 5 years, Abby smells like a dog to me.
- First Dr.'s appointment.  Found out I will be delivering at Little Company of Mary in Torrance.  John wants to plan a driving route because he thinks it's far away.  He said it's a good thing his car is fast.

6 weeks (10/20-10/26)
- Went on a movie date and I had to unbutton my top button when I sat down.  Time to buy a Belly Band.

7 weeks (10/27-11/2)
- Told Darin the news when he came over for dinner.  He hugged me and said, "No matter what's going on, a new life coming into the world is a wonderful thing."
- Sitting on the couch watching TV and John said, "It's so weird to think we'll have a baby here with us in 7 months."

8 weeks (11/3-11/9)
- Told my Mom, Dad, Brian, Auntie Edna and grandparents the news.  They're all very excited!  Lots of hugs and congrats.  Grandparents said it was about time.  Mom said she didn't have morning sickness with the boys but had it with me...sign it's a boy?

9 weeks (11/10-11/16)
- Another appointment, due date is June 15th!
- John put his head on my belly to see if he could hear a heartbeat. I told him he couldn't but he had to try anyway.  Love these little moments.
- Still no morning sickness
- Went to Cape Cod and told John's family the news.  His Mom was shocked and kept saying "My baby's having a baby!".  Paul and Michelle were very excited because this is the first time they'll be an uncle and aunt. MIL did the Italian needle trick and it said girl.
- MIL told everyone she saw that we were having a baby but kept saying "I'm pregnant".

10 weeks (11/17-11/23)
- Belly popped this week....John calls it my food belly.  I'm sure no one notices but I'm not used to having a belly.

11 weeks (11/24-11/30)
- Had our first ultrasound!  Baby Z was moving around like crazy and we could see the heart fluttering.  Amazing moment!
- Showed everyone the ultrasound picture at Thanksgiving. My Mom says she can tell her grandchild is adorable already.
- Had to wear my belly band on Thanksgiving.  Because I'm getting bigger or I ate too much?...verdict is still out.
- Told Katie the news and Brian bought John drinks all night.
- Mom couldn't resist going to baby stores while we were home.  We looked at cribs and she bought Baby Z his/her first outfit and a set of bibs.  She also bought me my first maternity top but I'm still not big enough for maternity pants. Tried some on at Target and they were HUGE!
- Bought Baby Z a Christmas gift, an HD Flip camera!

12 weeks (12/1-12/7)
- Finally getting my energy back.
- Having very crazy dreams, multiple ones a night.  I have to remind myself they're not real when I wake up.
- Posted the ultrasound picture on Facebook...word is out!
- Watching TV and John turned to me and said "I can't believe I'm going to be a Dad", rubbed my belly, kissed me and said "I love you".  I'm so happy this baby inside of me will be the best of him and me.  I can't wait to see what this baby looks like. I hope he/she has John's dimples. And John wants him/her to have my dimpled chin.
- Craving salt all the time...fries, pickles, chips.  Anything with salt!

13 weeks (12/8-12/14)
- Pants are getting a little tight. I have to unbutton the top button when I sit down.
- Heard Baby Z's heartbeat for the first time, coolest sound I've ever heard!  Started to cry when I got to my car.

14 weeks (12/15-12/21)
- I feel like I'm showing but I don't think anyone can tell.  They probably think I'm getting fat.
- Got John a Baby's Manual for Christmas and MIL bought me a pregnancy ornament.

15 weeks (12/22-12/28)
- Bought Baby Z's bedding set!  I couldn't pass up dragonflies!  So it's decided, nursery colors are brown and sage green.
- Started to feel Baby Z move while driving to San Jose.  Felt like little bubbles bursting or hunger pains. We were listening to Queen so we think Baby Z is a Queen fan.
- Baby Z is spoiled already- got lots of Christmas presents!  Mom bought books to start Baby Z's book collection and gave me my copies of The Giving Tree, The Secret Garden and Seasame Street Bedtime Storybook.
- Mom bought me a pair of maternity cords. I have fully embraced the elastic bands! They're so comfortable!
- Found a pair of Chip & Pepper maternity jeans on ebay and they fit perfectly! I don't have to give up my designer jeans!
- Saw my cousins Sascha, Christina and Lia for dinner.  Talked about babies the entire time and Lia has the family bassinet. One less thing to buy!

16 weeks (12/29-1/4)
- Pickle cravings continue. I eat two when I get home from work.  Can't watch the Food Network, especially Unwrapped, because I want to eat everything I see.  Made John get me a Hostess Fruit Pie and started craving Twinkies after a snack-centric episode of Unwrapped. Also can't watch food commercials...thank god for Tivo!
- Used my Barnes & Noble gift card to buy Baby Z more books.  Where the Wild Things Are and The Very Hungry Caterpillar.
- Went on a movie date, have to enjoy our dates while we can!  Couldn't resist buying the pop-up version of The Very Hungry Caterpillar when I saw it.
- Told my boss about the pregnancy and word has spread at work.

17 weeks (1/5-1/11)
- Another appointment, heard Baby Z's heartbeat again.  Will never get tired of hearing that sound!  Up to 130 lbs, 8lbs total!  Denied all genetic testing so my Dr. wants to schedule a level 2 ultrasound to make sure everything is ok.
- The nesting phase has begun. I have this urgent need to get the house organized and start on the nursery.  Asked Darin to build some rafters so we can organize the garage.
- Feeling Baby Z move a lot more now, especially while sitting down at work.
- Spend all my free time researching car seats and strollers.
- Bought two maternity tops, another pair of maternity pants and my first pair of leggings. I vowed to never wear leggings but they were way too comfortable to pass up!  Also found a pair of skinny maternity jeans at Old Navy.  Put away all my regular jeans.....I told them I will see them again soon, I hope!
- HAD to get green onion dip.  I had just come home from the grocery store but had to go out again to get it.
- Mom sent me a dress and MIL sent us a couple samples of dragonflies so we can choose which one we want her to paint. I started crying when I opened the packages.  This baby is loved so much already!

18 weeks (1/12-1/18)
- Finally got some organizing done! The garage has so much more storage!
- Went stroller and car seat shopping.  In-laws gave us money for the stroller and we bought the Maclaren Quest Sport.  Also decided on the Chicco KeyFit 30. I researched like crazy and kept changing my mind but I think we made the right choice.
- Interviewed 2 daycares.  I hate the thought of leaving Baby Z to go back to work but if I must, I'm going to find the best person to watch him/her when I can't be there.

19 weeks (1/19-1/25)
- I told John my pregnancy books said Baby Z can hear sounds. He started talked to my belly and saying "I love you".
- Started our baby registry, couldn't resist.  It started as just adding a few things that I saw and didn't want to forget and then I couldn't stop.
- Waking up in the middle of the night to go pee, even if I go pee right before bed.  Started using a body pillow this week because I'm having back pain.  John is concerned there won't be much room in bed for him soon. Also getting leg cramps in the middle of the night.
- Booked our babymoon in Big Bear!
- Received the stroller and I LOVE it! Can't wait to push Baby Z in it!
- Took out my belly button ring. I feel like I lost a piece of my youth and it's weird having my belly button bare. I've had it since I was 18, over 11 years!

20 weeks (1/26-2/1)
- Halfway there!  Woke up this morning and felt significantly bigger.  At first it was just a little belly at the bottom and now I feel bigger at the top of my stomach.
- Kathy told me today that my curves are freaking her out.  My belly changes size from one day to the next.
- Had a 20 week ultrasound today....Baby Z is perfect!!!  In a breach position now but the Dr. isn't concerned, plenty of time for Baby Z to move around.
- Decided on a daycare, going with Jackie
- Went furniture shopping for John's game room, found an entertainment center and want Darin to build a murphy bed.  Can't wait to move him into the guest room so we can get started on the nursery!
- Grandma V bought the crib!
- Go to bed and I'm freezing and then wake up in the middle of the night sweating
- More leg cramps at night...need to have more potassium.
