13 weeks, 1 day
I had my regular 4 week check up today. All is well and I've finally gained some weight, 2 1/2 pounds since my last appointment! My husband is wonderful for telling me I look the same but I knew I had gained weight, lol. The last couple days I've had to unbutton the top button on my pants while sitting down at work because they're getting a little too tight. I guess I'll have to wear my belly band more often or finally buy some pants up a size. I'm going to miss my designer jeans, sigh. My Dr. also discussed with me the quad marker screening that can be done at my next appointment. They will take blood to determine if the baby is at risk for any birth defects. I'm on the fence about any prenatal screening for birth defects since we don't have a history of it in either of our families and I'm not in a high risk group but we'll read the research she gave me and John and I will decide what we want to do. But the most exciting thing that happened today....I HEARD BABY Z'S HEARTBEAT!! It was without a doubt the coolest sound I've ever heard. In fact, I believe I said, "that's so cool" about 3 times, lol. And I started to cry when I got into my car. This is by far the most amazing thing I've ever done in my life and I have so much love for this baby already. John didn't come to this appointment with me and I had a feeling I may hear the heartbeat so I brought the Flip (already coming in handy!) with me and recorded it so he could hear. Now you all get to hear it too :-)
I called in sick to work today. I haven't been sleeping that well the last few days. I wake up multiple times a night. I'm guessing it's because of the vivid dreams I've been having. I've never had dreams like this before. They feel so real! Abby also decided to wake John and I up over 4 times last night to go outside. I think she was having stomach issues. So because of all that I decided to take the day off and get some rest. I'm also spending the day running errands. I picked up a space heater for our bedroom because it's been freezing here the last couple days and our wall heaters don't heat our bedroom. I also bought one more Christmas gift so I only have one left! Ok, time for more errands. I need to run to UPS to drop off a package for John.
