Christmas Comes Early for Baby Z!

We had a good time in San Jose for Thanksgiving. My Mom's new place is really cute and in walking distance of downtown Willow Glen, which has little shops and restaurants. It was nice to spend time with my parents and I got to see my high school friend Katie and give her the news. We went to a bar with her and her husband Thanksgiving night and her husband kept buying John drinks :-) I also got to show off the ultrasound picture to my family. My Mom said she can already tell her grandchild is adorable, hehehe. On Friday, my Mom really wanted to go this baby store so we took walk down there and did a little window shopping. They had some cloth diapers so I was showing them to her and explaining how different they are from the cloth diapers she used. We didn't buy anything but it was fun to look around. Then on Saturday, she wanted to go to Babies R Us and couldn't help buying Baby Z his/her first outfit and a bib set. We also found an adorable pair of Converse sneakers that I'm going to have to buy if someone doesn't buy them for me. Seriously, how cute are baby shoes?! We checked out the crib selection and found one that we really like. It's a 4 in 1 conversion crib that can eventually turn into a full size bed. I don't know if we need to go that route since we plan on having a second baby but John said we should just worry about the one baby right now, lol. I also found a matching dresser that I can use as a changing table too. I want to have a dresser/changing table combo since the room we will use for the nursery isn't that big. I checked out their bedding sets but didn't find anything I love. I might have to change my idea of brown and blue decor because I'm not loving anything in that color scheme. My two favorite are still at Target (I'll post them later) but I'm not crazy about them and will keep looking. It's so hard finding neutral bedding without animals all over them. I'm not a huge fan of the animal prints, too cutesy for me. My Mom wanted to check out the gliders but I didn't see anything I love. They all looked really cheap. I was planning on taking one of the wooden rockers she has but she thinks I'll be more comfortable in a padded chair and I agree. I think I'll check online for more options. We're not going to start getting the room together until at least March or April so I have plenty of time. Our last stop was to look at the strollers but we were overwhelmed with all the choices! I like the ones where the car seat mounts on top so it's all in one but there are so many different brands to choose from. I need to do some research online to see what brands are safest. After looking around for awhile, John and I were both overwhelmed with all the things we need to buy. And trying to figure out where we are going to put everything in our small house! So Moms...what are your essential must have items? I don't want to buy unnecessary things that we won't use. Think about it and let me know :-) When my Mom was buying the outfit and bib set, the cashier suggested we sign up for the rewards program so I signed up under my name and my Mom took one of the cards. She said she'll be shopping there a lot from now on, hehehe. And it's a Toys R Us rewards card too so John can use it when he goes toy shopping.

Baby Z's first outfit!

And the bib set...I wonder why she picked this one :-)

The crib we like but it's a darker stain. Couldn't find that one online.

And the dresser/changing table

After Babies R Us, we stopped at Target because my Mom wanted to buy me my first maternity top. They didn't really have a big selection but I found a cute long sleeved shirt that I can wear now. It doesn't even look like a maternity top, just a little bit longer in length but I like that. I also tried on a pair of maternity cords but the size 4 were huge on me. I guess I'm not ready for maternity pants yet! I did have to wear my belly band on Thursday after stuffing myself with the big meal, lol.

It's really soft cotton!

And my two favorite bedding sets right now, from Target

I like this one because it's simple and I can add more details we bring Baby Z home and find out if it's a boy or girl :-)

After all our shopping, it was time to head to the airport to catch our flight. We made one last stop at my grandparents to say goodbye and my grandma said, "I love you and the baby too!" :-) It was nice to have a day at home to get our tree and get out the Christmas decorations. We didn't put up the ornaments yet because we're having a tree trimming party on Saturday. I'm putting my guests to work, lol. John also has to hang the outside lights still but I told him that needed to be done in time for the party. We went to Michaels last night and got all the supplies for our Christmas ornament craft project. It was John's idea because he used to make them as a kid. We got a bunch of wooden cutouts that everyone can paint how they wish and then we will put a hook through them to make ornaments. It should be fun! I still need to figure out another appetizer to make. Right now, our menu consists of spinach artichoke dip, mini potato bites and I'm going to try out a recipe for mulled wine in the crock pot. I can't partake but I wanted to make a fun holiday drink and it will make the house smell wonderful. I was thinking of making a dessert too but John said I should just have someone bring on. I guess I could and make it easy on me. I'm really looking forward to the party. We haven't had a Christmas party before!

This morning, we bought Baby Z a Christmas gift :-) My Mom told us that her co-worker got a Flip Camera on Amazon for a really good deal and so we decided to check it out. We found the Flip UltraHD Camcorder, normally $199, for $151 with free shipping and no tax! We were planning on buying one next year but we couldn't pass up this deal! I can't wait to get it and try it out!
