I see lots of deer around here, but my encounter today was really special. As I was driving down my road, where do I see a beautiful doe but on the side of our driveway, next to our mailbox. She just stood there looking at me with those big, soft eyes as I slowly inched the car past her and into the driveway in case she suddenly bolted into the path of the car. After I passed her, she slowly walked across the road and into the woods.
Now, having grown up in a rural area, I know that if you see one deer, there is probably another near-bye. I looked all over and found her standing about 6' past the bottom of the driveway. I turned off the car and stayed inside, hoping that she would pass by and join the other one, but she just looked at me with her tail thrashing for a while then turned around and slowly went down the hill toward our backyard. As I got out of the car, I saw her contentedly grazing on our neighbor's back lawn,
It's little moments like these that make my day. :-)
