I think my problem is that I always expect too much on my birthday. I get all excited beforehand and then it happens and I'm like "Oh, that's it

the first time some chick starts getting killed while sclantily clad you need to scream out in the theater "NOOOOOOO! TORTURE PORN! WHYYYYYYYYYYYY?!?!?!?!?!"
I hope your b-day was great fun and that you don't feel any older today!
I'm really looking forward to seeing Halloween because I lovelovelovelove House of 1000 Corpses and The Devil's Rejects. To me, both those movies are classic horror films, but I just wonder if Rob Zombie can put his signature on a franchise that really was worthless after the first film. I hope he recreates it in a world of pure terror, seeing things related to how Michael Myers grew up and how he became a monster... the Jamie Lynn Curtis stuff is so 70s... we don't need a rehash of that crap!
I actually feel the exact same age today that I did two days ago.
I think that the franchise was weakened by over- explanation. The original movie was so great because we had no idea why this guy was after these people. Each subsequent movie introduced more and more (weakass) back story. I think that Rob Zombie is very comfortable with random violence and evil, so he's not going to feel the need to go down that road. And we know that he's a great horror filmmaker--making the movies for the love of them--unlike some directors who see horror films as a temporary stop on their way to "better" material. I'm trying not to be too optimistic. The trailer looks great to me, but I've been fooled by trailers before . . .
