This is my happy place.

Do you ever have times in your life where everything just seems to be going right? Where you're in a fantastic mood for no reason, you're at peace with the world, and there are a lot of great things to look forward to? Well, I'm extremely happy to say that I've been feeling like this for about a week! Here are some theories as to why:

1. I am back on the Weight Watchers bandwagon. I know you've all heard this before, and I guess I can't guarantee that I won't backslide again, but I am very resolved to give this plan one hell of a try. It all stemmed from my (very nice) visit to Claire's last weekend. I'm not sure why I started thinking about my weight issues, but I suddenly just felt disgusted at how heavy I've let myself become. It's not healthy, it's not attractive, and it makes me feel bad about myself. And I'm sick of it.

So I've been following the plan religiously since Monday, and I've already dropped about five pounds! (Granted, most of that is water weight, but it's still pretty encouraging!) If I stick to this, I could be 30 or 40 pounds lighter by Claire's wedding in October, which would be fantastic. Now I just have to keep reminding myself that I can do this!

2. I have discovered new music. A chance visit to the Tune In Tuesday meme at GReads! introduced me to the song "Ho Hey" by The Lumineers. (Apparently it was also featured on an episode of "Hart of Dixie," but that seems irrelevant to everything.) I really, really like this song. I can't decide whether it's supposed to be happy or sad, but I personally find it uplifting. So of course I had to preview their whole album (also titled "The Lumineers"), and it sounds really good. It's only $8.99 on Amazon right now, so methinks a purchase might be in order.

And in other music news, Mumford and Sons might be coming to the U.S. in August! If they play anywhere on the East Coast, I am going. Seriously, I will take time off work if I have to! They are amazing, and it is one of my short-term life goals to see them in concert.

3. A local bar does movie screenings on most Sunday nights, and July is their "salute to Mel Brooks" month. I unapologetically count "Spaceballs" as one of my top 10 favorite movies of all time, so I'm pretty stoked! The lineup is: "Spaceballs" (7/1), "Robin Hood: Men in Tights" (7/8), "Blazing Saddles" (7/15), "Young Frankenstein" (7/22), and "History of the World: Part 1" (7/29). Best thing ever? I think so! As an added bonus, I really like the bar too -- it's small, not too busy or loud, and they've got a great wine list.

4. My brother is coming to visit this weekend! Actually he should be here within the hour, haha. I haven't seen him since January, so I'm really looking forward to spending some quality time with him. Tomorrow we're bound for the Philadelphia area for my cousin Phil's 30th-birthday party, so we'll also get to see some of the extended family, which will be fun!

5. Next week is a three-day work week for me. Monday is Memorial Day, and then I've taken a vacation day on Friday so that I can go home for a long weekend. I'm really excited about that too! It'll be like a mini-vacation, and it will allow me to regress into carefree childhood for a while. (Well, not regress exactly, but you know what I mean -- I might even bring laundry home!)

Wow, that was a longer-than-expected entry. Apparently being in a good mood makes me verbose! The short version: life is good. :)

weekends, music, joy, daily life
