Bleh, I need to get a tumblr or something. When it comes to livejournal these days, I am the failingest fail that ever did fail. Here is a condensed version of the past few weeks
( Read more... )
I love looking through tumblr(s??), especially when someone actually likes things I do. It seems so pointless in retrospect, but this is the internet, which is reason in itself. Also, pets are the best. :DDD Post doggie pictures!
I think once you're an RN you start getting a lot of scrub catalogs in the mail, unless it's just because my mom subscribed to them. Her hospital is going all navy soon, but for the meantime she dons a lot of colorful ones. Navy is so boring! -- On the other hand, I'm kinda considering aiming for nursing school since I'm having trouble getting a job in my field. Lack of experience makes it hard to get experience... A Catch-22...
Also, this is probably out of the blue, but I'm doing a little spring cleaning and will be (maybe...lol) putting up a "giveaway" post soon, and I have some things I think I might want to send your way. It's pretty much a lot of Bully memorabilia, so a little late on the fandom train, but I want to make sure some of the stuff goes to people who actually might want it. Friends list first! If you're interested keep an eye out for it, or I just might comment about it later.
Ahhhh, I'm an awful person, I thought I had replied to this!
Anyway, yes! I would absolutely be interested in random Bully stuff! :D It's still a fandom near and dear to my heart, although I'm not really active in it anymore. I'm like that with most of my old fandoms. <3

In a roundabout way, that's kind of how I ended up in nursing. I have an English degree, but writing jobs are few and far between unless you know people, and working in publishing is difficult unless you're in New York. I couldn't afford to do an unpaid interneship or something back east and writing is something I can do while working a day job, so I just sort of futzed around in office jobs for a while before I realized that futzing around in office jobs with no real direction kind of, um, SUCKS. I've always been interested in science and medicine, and nursing is a solid field that pays really well, so I thought, "Sure, why not?"
Luckily, it turns out that I LOVE this stuff, and I definitely plan to pursue a Masters and (probably) PhD at some point in the future. And while having to get the prerequesites out of the way before you can get into a program is kind of aggravating, in a way it's nice because you get to find out if it's something you really want to stick with for the long haul.
(It's also nice having a parent who's a nurse. It gave me a good idea of what to expect!)
Anyway, if you're seriously thinking about nursing school, feel free to ask me questions or pick my brain however much you want. :) I'm really excited to be moving past my prerequisites and into a program proper, and it's a field that definitely needs more people now that all the Boomers are starting to retire!
