That was awesome!
The storm last night was awesome! I went outside to call Rusty, but when I closed the door behind me Taz started crying. So I took him out with me. We went around back and called and called, but no Rusty. So we went back to the front. I stood under the over hang in front of the door just incase it started raining... I'm sure Taz wouldn't like that. Called a few more times, nadda. I was about to go back inside for a bit when there was a brilliant flash of lighting, followed closely by booming thunder (during which I could hear a surge of electricity flowing through the power lines). NO way I'm letting Rusty stay out in that. So I run to the backyard, find a place where I'm relatively safe (no metal, water, etc... really close) and call again, and again, and again, and then one more time (XD). Finally I heard the sound of Rusty crashin though the neighbour's yard. I bend down and pick him up, and now have two cats, one in each arm. I was about to start heading to the front when I thought better safe then sorry. So I stay where I am and crouch down as low as I can. Suddenly big flash (both bolt and sheet lightning), and it's almost as bright as the middle of the day. For a split second I can see everything in the yard. I start running to the front. Barely taken two steps when there's a massive crack/boom of thunder and both cats freak and try squirming out of my arms. How fun!
Once safely inside the cats run up the stairs and then assume the "ready to run" position. I pass the next hour or so watching the storm. After about 20 minutes it started to rain hard for 10 to 15 minutes. As the rain died down I could hear this sucking noise that turned out to be the drain across the street struggling to take in the water. The thunder and lightning started to die down a bit, but were still pretty crazy. I hear a faint meow and go out to the kitchen. Despite the storm, Rusty thinks he want's to go outside:
I go back into my room. 15 to 20 minutes pass and suddenly it starts hailing. Hail doesn't last long but is replaced by rain, and man, did it ever pour. Eventually that died down too and when it's gotten to the last faint rumblings of into the distance, I poke my head out of my room and see this:
I sit down to do some paper work. 3 am rolls around and I decide maybe I should go to bed. Just as I crawl in the storm starts up again. Not quite as violent, and nowhere near as long, but still enjoyable.
And now it's pouring again. And there's a bit of thunder and lightning...
