wtf

do you ever have those moments when those are the only words you can think of to say? like when you turn off the news in the morning after hearing that there was 1 dead, 1 wounded on a campus in VA b/c it was time to go inside and play with the kids. you thought, "God, that's sad. Dear Lord help them and their families," but that was it. Until of course you are told to turn the news back on and are struck with the words, "22 dead, 21 wounded," and immediately tear up, as if you were physically struck. scenes of the fire and 9/11 flash through your mind and you remember the fear and the vulnerabitlity you and all of your friends felt. you remember how classes were immediately cancelled and how the campus went into lock down and how friends were either seperated or joined b/c of it. you remember wondering, worrying, waiting, and paying for that one friend who hadn't reported in yet, and you remember that hug you gave him when he finally showed up. but still, you keep thinking, wtf.
you wonder wtf made the school stay open? it doesn't matter how "contained" they thought the situation was. isn't 1 person being murdered on a campus enough of a reason to cancel classes for the rest of the day at least? you wonder wtf about a lot of things that happened during the day and you know that it's a cultural thing partially, the reason not as many people sacrificed their own lives to let others escape, like Liviu Librescu, a professor who held the door to his classroom while he insisted that his students leave through the window. i know how crazy and conspriratorial i will sound by saying this, but it's true. this cultural mentality goes back to abortion: how is anyone supposed to believe that the lives of others matter when we are allowed to murder our own babies in the womb? we attack the most innocent among us, protected under law, and then we wonder how someone could have such a lack of respect for human life. it is an evil mentality and leads to more evil.
this man was deranged. wtf 33 dead and 20 some wounded. wtf
