3 Eleven/Amy Fic Recs

Feb 10, 2012 23:38

God, this was hard.  So many choices!

For flydye8 for my made-up fic rec meme!  Hopefully you haven't read all three before, but it's quite possible you have (Oh, well!)

003. The Stars, The Moon, They Have All Been Blown Out - lenina20 (PG-13)
~ There is (there always was) one sacrifice he couldn’t make. Stupid, stupid Doctor.

Beautiful, unadulterated angst in all its 11/Amy glory.  So thought-provoking, heart-wrenching, and twistedly romantic.  I find that certain images in fic, just little pictures in my mind described in detail, are what stick with me and make me want to go back and find the fic later.  There are so many of those gorgeous, unforgettable images here.

002. A Minor Annoyance - jal80 (PG-13/soft R)
~ "So you're...upset because I'm...not rubbish at sex.  That is rather stupid."

Oh God, funniest 11/Amy fic I've read.  It's the type of fic that had me squealing the whole way through, absolutely giddy with joy.  It's mostly because it's ridiculous how in character this author has them, even in the rather non-canon setting (by which I mean, a bed)--awkward, banter-y, adoring...It makes the whole thing ten times as sexy.  She has such a knack for their every mannerism.  Absolutely adorable.

001. How To Kill Boredom, in One Easy Lesson - nostalgia_lj (soft R)
~ The Doctor and Amy get stuck on Earth with nothing to do.

To this day I'm not sure what it is about this fic that's stuck with me so long.  Going back to the thing I mentioned under 003 about images, that's a factor.  But it's also how real it all seems, how she's manipulated the characters but stayed true to them.  It's darkly funny and by the end has somehow twisted into something bigger than the sum of its parts.  I know, I know, I'm being vague, but it's hard to explain other than to say that it's been months since I first read this fic and I've never forgotten it.

Hope you enjoy!  Or, if you've read them all before, hope you re-enjoy!
