Looking for Class - Bruce Feiler
The same writer that described his Japanese experiences in
Learning to Bow, now chronicles his time at the prestigious Oxford and Cambridge universities. Feiler's discoveries and narrative are not what one would expect from such high-brow institutions. Very interesting reading.

Saving Fish from Drowning - by Amy Tan
My sister loaned me this novel with the caveat that it took her a while to get into it. I felt the same way but persevered. The book is wordy at first, but then the plot falls into place. It's been a while since I read Tan's work, but this tale seems different than her other endeavors.

Coastliners - Joanne Harris
Didn't like it. Too French. Couldn't summon sympathy for the characters nor care about their plight. Fyi, this is the same lady that wrote
Chocolat.
