Year in comedy review/update

Dec 26, 2007 02:43

Christmas sucked this year.

I did absolutely nothing today. The tv is gone and I just sat around. Smoking ciggies and checking myspace.

Lame.

Xmas eve I did get something... I got ass. Yeah! I do enjoy me some sex every once in a while. I'm not bragging as far as who it was with, because he's really a manslut. Someone has to ride the village bicycle to called such. I will say, that considering he was the village bicycle, it was a good ride. Like I wouldn't want anyone around to see I was taking that bike out and about... but it was a good ride, I must say. I just hope *he* didn't think that I was getting with him because of his ego and him sayin,"Ah... I'm gonna be on live at gotham in x months." I don't care.... The guy is also my hangover fairy... usually when I see him, I'm going to puke or hate myself the next day...

I didn't! That's two times in a row. Maybe I've learned how to brace myself.

This is my year in review from my favorite comics that I had not heard of that I've found out about. Maybe even the best show break down...

Best New Comics to my world:
Brian (January), Will Franken, Caitlyn Gill, Jim Jeffries, Ron Shock, Jimmy Gunn, Ross Parsons (Seattle)

Best Shows:
-Mr. Ma-low/Ms. Shawcroft vs. the riot at the Underground. I'll never forget about that. Brian seemed to be in top form that weekend, and I haven't seen him do as well since then. But then I've only seen him in less than headlining spots. Sadly for all of us.
-Jim Short, Beka Barry, Jane Haze, Toby Brown - Underground... My birthday weekend, great crowd for me, great crowd for everyone else. One of the best line ups we could make happen.
-Patton Oswalt, Brian Posehn, Greg Behrendt, and Blaine Capatch -- this has to be a show for all time. Like, quite possibly the funniest show I've ever seen in a way that I don't have any biased to. Like if you weren't had no preconceptions of what comedy should be, walked in, it would have been just as magical as it was for me.
-Craig Ferguson -- just because he cursed and was awesome.
-Dana Carvey - seeing a legend at work. Brilliant.
-Paula Poundstone - again, a legend, but she was sooo funny and I was trying to ignore the show.... it didn't work.
-Jim Jeffries - The more the crowd hated him, the better it was for us. Dark, hilarious and says cunt a lot.
-DL Hughley - Granted, DL is hack... there was a night where a guy said he was a cow insiminator or something like that, and DL didn't have script to come back to it. I nearly fell out.
-Ron Shock's - late show saturday set this past weekend... damn... that was soo hilarious. It was different than the other shows I'd seen him do that weekend and it was the darkest show. It was fantastic. I also was drunker...
-Jim Short and friends at the Purple Onion - Charles Ezelle, Robert Hawkins, Carla Clay and Sheng Wang... this was perhaps the hippest show I saw, as people were dressed up in suit and ties. It was what a show at the purple onion should be. Though, minus throwing a shoe at Hawkins... that was unnecessary.

I doubt patton and the pot show guys will even place when it comes to NYE. Neither will camin. I'd also like to point out that Chappelle is not on the list... why? Because I really don't like his show. He's a brilliant writer, but his show drag on and I'm not enamored by him. Though, seeing Chappelle and MosDef on the same stage was pretty cool.

NYE, I'll be working... but afterwards, party at the Punchline, which I was invited to two years ago, but being in the ER earlier that day made Brig and I think it was a bad idea. This year, I'm going. Proops, Patton, Arj, Benson, Camin, Slayton, Fitzsimmons, PFT... etc should be there as well as the staff. It's going to be my final hurrah in caring about the comedy stuff so much for a while. I need a break. That party will just be sort of what my goal was when I was in high school... to be more than fans, to be drinking, smoking, and overall reveling with these comics. It's gonna be a moment... I should probably find a camera of some sort...

Anyway... year end review.

I also have to move out by the end of the month. I have no idea of what I'm going to do. Maybe crash at Ferrari's place for a while until I get everything together to move to memphis. Bah... another two moves.

On a happier note, my dad got the job in Sausalito, so I might be back before you know it.
