It's all in the reflexes

Hmm... I think that I may have figured out the reason for having Random Blond (additional?) Gein as one of the opponents in what I'm fairly sure is Kanryuu's mansion. If the RK movie is going from "You are carrying a sword! Clearly you must be Battousai!" "Sessha wa... okay, yes, fine" to Sano to Jineh to Megumi to Gatling guns to Saitou... yeah, ( Read more... )

I DOUBT they'd bring Yahiko along to Kanryuu's mansion. Manga-wise, SLIGHTLY acceptable break from reality (even with said point as you mentioned on Yahiko having probably barely a month's worth of kendo training). Live-action version? Even the staff would draw the line somewhere.

*ponder* Again, it might not be so much the staff as the scriptwriters-- "We can't fit YET ANOTHER SET OF FIGHT SCENES IN HERE!" *g*

The only reason that bit worked for me in the anime is that it made sense that both Kaoru and Yahiko would go, and would fight together (the girl who would go charging off at all hours after a legendary assassin armed with only her bokken? Yes, she would totally see bringing Yahiko to the evil scary ninja-hiring drug dealer's mansion as "valuable in-the-field training"... which makes you wonder what kinds of things her dad dragged her into as training when she was Yahiko's age, really).

Meanwhile, I'm wondering if they are going to have Cranky Kenshin Versus Lamppost when Kanryuu is trying to get him to go away. Small moment, but a fun example of Kenshin demonstrating that he is not amused by this nonsense.

My main hope is them making sure to have Cranky Kenshin's line of "WHY DON'T YOU PRAY TO YOUR BELOVED MONEY?!" (or whathaveyou translation variation) because, c'mon, YIKES. (Next to Pissed-Off Kenshin after Jin-e for taking Kaoru.)

Oh, gosh, I had forgotten that line. *g* Also an excellent choice! Plus, of course, "You Shinsengumi guys never did know when to quit" and the other bits from the fight with Saitou as Kenshin is getting more and more un-Rurouni-like.

Well, let's just keep optimistic about certain lines from the manga. One thing I've learned when the first live-action Transformers film was announced (and eventually the next two movies), was that the writers could only use so much material that had shown up in previous Transformers lines (original cartoon, later cartoons, and comics). The key thing was that the live-action TF films was their own universe, following their universe's rules. Although, maybe a wrong example since the live-action TF movies are wholly different from the other series...

Then again, Adaptation Distillation in play, I suppose.

Yeah.... for me, there is the additional "well, you're comparing the translations of the manga into two languages which are not the original language, plus the translations of the anime by two different studios depending on whether or not you are thinking of the anime or "Trust and Betrayal," and you're looking at either the subtitles or the dub," issue.... so, you know, as long as the dialogue includes "Sessha wa rurouni" and the words "sakabattou" and "hitokiri," it will pretty much count as, "Hey, they are using words that appeared in the original!" *g*

Well, they already have "Sessha wa rurouni" in the first official trailer. :3

I'm going to be heading down to San Diego for San Diego Comic-Con and considering Warner Bros. usually shows up, I'll see if I can bug one of the reps there (hopefully someone who has some involvement in their international department) about the possibility of Kenshin having an international release.
