My Letter to ABC/Disney in regards to Legend of the Seeker
To the Programming Director:
First of all, I am hand writing this as a small reminder that these letters are not all copied and pasted documents from mindless drones. The people sending these are individuals with a passion for Legend of the Seeker, and it is small penance to put in writing how determined we are to see this show renewed for (at least) a third season.
I am aware that there are financial issues involved with production and distribution that fans can only speculate about, but please consider that the type of people that fantasy shows appeal to know the meaning of loyalty. If you are able to bring this show back we will support you in any way we can. I honestly believe that it is only the lack of publicity that has so far prevented this show from very high ratings. I know many people found the show by accident while channel surfing, or had to be told directly by a friend about its existence, and promptly became hooked: Legend of the Seeker sells itself, people just need to be made aware of it.
The demographic for this show is very large: it appeals to children, teenagers and adults alike, and is not bound by culture or social status. The international market for this show is huge, so please consider the potential profits outside America. I contacted the station that airs the show in my country (Fox8 Australia) to enquire about release dates and their willingness to purchase further seasons. They replied that they ‘would definitely consider purchasing season 3 if it was produced and available’.
Fans are also eager to purchase merchandise related to the show, and as there is minimal available, have resorted to designing and producing their own. Sci-fi and fantasy fans are renowned for their willingness to purchase anything from posters and bookmarks, to figurines and clothing. I have purchased the season one DVD from America, because I got sick of waiting for it to be released in my region. I would also purchase Blu-Ray if it were available.
I am sure that by now you have noticed the campaign to bring back Legend of the Seeker for a third season, but if you would like further clarification, please visit www.saveourseeker.com.
