Oh god, I dealt with that shit all the time when I was running my business, and now that I quit doing it every time I see one of my designs somewhere it makes me gnash my teeth. Of course the worst offender is a company I used to work for too...

I don't miss that end of it at all!!

I always wondered about that sorta thing, cause you get big designers knocked off all the time, like when topshop will do it etc... and I always wondered what the laws were. I heared something about it being enough for them to even change the design ever so slightly, like even the size of the detailing or something and you can no longer do anything about it, is that true? Anyhow I really hope you can sort this out cause that is shitty, especially when it comes to other latex companies, cause there really is so few of you that it's so obvious when it happens. I miss you Kate.

It's something you get used to as a designer, and this probably won't be the last time it happens to you, I'm afraid :(

There's not a whole lot you can actually do about it, sadly. Intellectual property is difficult to both establish and prove in fashion, and even more arduous to prosecute.

I recommend you take it as affirmation: You know you're doing something right when others are borrowing from your creation, and if you do something good you WILL get ripped off. You have 3 years on those fools and possess the brain that creates these new ideas, so make the most of it :)

Good luck with it, though, and don't get too down about it. You're in a big club ;)
