What a great day

Alright, I know that I have in recent years tried to keep my ramblings about the kids away from the blog (hey; that's what my mommy blog is for after all. Kate the Great!) however, today I just have to share my jarbled thoughts about President Obama's--
doesn't that look great!-- inauguration, and my kids might spill over into this as they spent a ( Read more... )

"Shame to the Oregon State Legislature. Were the things that you were dealing with today really so important that you couldn't close for one day to support the swearing in of your new leader? How is it that you, as the representatives of a state that went to President Obama, could not put way your own bureaucracyfor one day to honour a once in a life time moment in history. Shame on you. I hope you will all go back and watch it later, because you could certainly learn a few things from what that man had to say over the course of the day."

Did you check to see if they were closed for Bush's or any other presidents inauguration? Maybe they really did have more important things to do after all.

By the way, whats up with adding all the extra vowels to color and honor? Here in the United States of America we gave that up after the Revolution.

Are you really English or just pompous?

Perhaps you're the pompous one. Is how this girl spells things really a basis for her personality? Why would it make a person pompous just because they spell words differently from the way you were taught.

Perhaps her family is English, or maybe even Canadian? Either way, being her blog, she's more than entitled to post it in whatever language/spelling she feels most comfortable using.

I will be honest; I can not say if they were closed or not, as I don't know off the top of my head if the Oregon State Legislature was even in session that year. However, if they had been, my sentiment would have been the same. Across the country, I am aware of several other legislatures (Washington State, for example) shutting down for the days events. And honestly, name me one truly life changing event that has happened on the first day of a state legislature.

As for where I come from, I no longer share personal information over public forums, as we've had trouble in the past with such; although I readily admit that if you read much of my blog it's obvious where I currently live. However there are countries other than the United Kingdom that use as you put it, 'extra vowels' in their spelling. I am sure if you read a few of my friends blogs you will quickly discover that.

Regardless, thank you for your comments and insight.
