Way back when, on a cold Chicago winter's day, a little mousie snuck into my house to keep warm. When my visiting grandmother saw him, I'm sure she desperately wanted to jump up on the chair and squeal, but there's no way she would ever let herself do that. So, we got a trap. But not one of those "break their little necks when they go for the cheese" traps. Rather, a "humane" trap: a little plastic tray, filled with glue and birdseed.

We never did catch the mouse. But the trap caught the cat. Twice.

Imagine, if you will, a cat walking through the kitchen, with a little plastic tray stuck to her paw. Close your eyes and hear the sound: "pad pad pad THWAP pad pad pad THWAP." Then, the sound once the trap was removed: "pad pad pad ... shplut pad pad pad ... shplut," thanks to the glue that was still on her paw.

Now that I think of it, Twinkle could probably have gotten herself a grant from the Ministry of Silly Walks...

And as for the hole in your wall? Spray foam is your friend.
