Mark this one down in the record books, ladies and gentlemen: Sloan has put out a record that
kingmob23 likes more than I do! We agree that Never hear the End of It is their best work since 96's One Chord to Another. But I don't have quite the same taste for power pop that Steve does, and a lot of this album is way too 70s AOR for my palate. Plus, most of the 30 songs are under 2 minutes long, and they just sound like fragments-- good ideas that they couldn't extend into full songs. Jay Ferguson has really found his stride with this record. His songs were usually the "guilty pleasures" on their albums, so sweet and cheesy and Queen-esque, but Who Taught You To Live Like That is just awesome. He's now definitely the best songwriter in the band.
I really love the new Nine Inch Nails! It will surprise noone, especially
elektrovst, that my favorite song on the album is Capital G. I always was a sucker for the swing beat :)
