heh. You are going to be up until that book is finished. Good luck with that. I hope you enjoy it though. It's well worth losing sleep over.

NO NO!! We will not lose sleep! Good god, I'm almost over my QAF addiction - at least, working on it, I refuse to get addicted to anything else, if only a single book.

I'm already appalled at the writing (though the story's great - so that's more than can be said about most fic). That's a good sign, I think.

In the HP 6 that I have, there's a typo (well, maybe more like an oversight on the part of whoever proofread it) on page 10. That threw me off and I didn't pick it up again for months.

YES! I remember now. I read them so fast that I don't notice most errors, but anything big makes me come to a complete stand still. Sometimes it will take me a day or so to get over it.

It was "site" instead of "sight." It annoyed me so much.

I remember now. That drove me insane. I think it was the only topic my sister and I talked about related to the book before we had both finished it.

My friends thought I was making too big a deal out of it. I was like, "NO! It's not a normal typo! Someone should have caught it!" Because given that so many millions read them, they have to be proofed by several people . . .

Hey, there it is! I didn't even notice.

Bleh, I really MUST lay off the bad!fic.

I've always loved finding stuff like that in books that have already been published. Then I'm all, "They should hire me! I'd have caught it!" But, sadly, finding errors in published books doesn't really impress potential employers . . .

Appalled by the writing of the book? It's been a while since I read it, but I think I remember what you mean. The thing with the HP books for me is that I read them so fast the first time I don't really notice writing errors. The story just sweeps me away.

It's not writing 'errors' so much as writing style - but of course, it's for children. But, okay, it's straight forward, and the story's the important part in books like these - but I can't help but notice a very seemingly conservative agenda in the first 10 pages.

This is what happens when on going professional, damn it. My reading capacity has been thoroughly devirginized. I'm an intellectual slut.

I get annoyed with the whole, "Hermione said," or "Ron said" after every single piece of dialogue. I just have to keep reminding myself that the books are written for kids and that kids typically have short attention spans and need the names there.
