I would like to share the following information over something that's bothered me for a while, as a regular treadmill runner, and after reading three fics in the last two days that have mistaken the below info, I would like to take a minute to share said info.
Running on the treadmill, at a pace of approximately 7.0 - 7.5 mph, consumes between approximately 800 and 1000 calories in an hour. That's 8 minute miles at 7.5 mph, so approximately 7 miles in an hour - about 125 calories every 10 minutes, depending on speed and body weight.
That means, if Brian ate a chocolate bar, and said bar was 250 calories, he would NOT have to put in two extra hours on the treadmill the next day to run it off. With his legs, I'm thinking 7.5 mph would be nothing for him, and 250 calories STILL equals only 15-20 minutes of extra running. No more than 20 minutes, anyway.
He'd burn up the equivalent of approximately 7-8 chocolate bars if he ran two extra hours. However, he'd still clog his arteries with the fat coursing through the blood vessels (I keep trying to remind myself of this information, so that one was just for me).
Thank you all for making a note of the above info. Of course, it's too late for the fics I read, two of which were written pre-2005. But, thank you for letting me get this info out there.
