rats and sushi

Today was fun! Finally slept in quite a bit and Tom and I managed to walk to a theater and see a movie! There are actually a few theaters within walking distance (about 25-35 min walk) of our apartment. We saw Idiocracy, which is a new Mike Judge film (Office Space guy). It was okay. It was about a stupid guy in the military and a prostitute get frozen and forgotten for 500 years. When they defrost they are now the smartest people in the world and Luke Wilson (the guy who was frozen) becomes president. It could have been better, but was decent. The movie tickets were only $8, so that was good.

We then walked to the building that I'll be working in. It is about a 40 minute walk from our apartment, which isn't so bad. Tom was happy to find a newsstand on our way back and he picked up a wad of magazines. We then stopped at a Japanese place near our house. It was okay, not a lot of nonfish options, but I did get an interesting roll. SOrt of reminded me of something McDonalds would do with rolls, it was vegetable tempura in a sushi roll. Pretty good, but I think the oil at that place is ready for a change. Tom got a big fish thing that came on a sizzling platter. We got this awesome dessert, which must be at stores. It is called Moshi and is a little ball of ice cream wrapped in a layer of rice something-or-other. THe red bean was yummie.

On the walk home from the restaurant we saw a rat scurry across an alley. This as well as spotting a few homeless people makes me scared to take the walk alone in the dark. Just imagine if the rats and homeless teamed up against me. Perhaps if I carry mace and strap the bottoms of my pants to my ankles I'll be safe.
