I was just washing my hair trying to figure out what kind of shampoo I'll buy next time and I remembered something that happened in the 8th grade. To preface the story I should say 8th grade was a little tough for me. I moved that year from the burbs to the sticks and I was all awkward and stuff and nerdy, so making new friends was going to be tough. It was hard to find my niche since in the burbs there were more students, which meant the cool to nerd heirarchy had more levels, allowing me to be 2 stages above total nerd and 2 stages below cool. In the sticks there was only cool and super nerdy and I wasn't cool and I didn't want to be super nerdy.
Well, that's probably too much background and now the story will seem dumb, but what happened in the 8th grade was that I washed my hair with my new cocoa-butter shampoo and really liked how it smelled. In class I overheard a girl say, "jan_town smells like butter". She was probably perfectly aware that I smelled like coconuts and not just butter, but (correctly) thought it was more funny to say I smelled like butter. I of course figure she must not realize that it isn't butter, but a wonderful tropical fruit that I smelled like so I turned and said, "Um...actually it isn't *butter* it is *coconut* butter".
There was very little hope for me in 8th grade. Luckily in high school we consolidated with another school and I fit in better with those people.
