A smile and a little patience...

Something struck me while I was traveling on a bus along the roads of Bukit Merah, I saw this old lady waiting by the traffic light while there was still ten over seconds before red man comes. As the people around her pick up their pace walking faster or jogging across the road to beat the light, she just stood there, looking a bit indecisive, it seems like she knows its a challenge for her to be like the rest and yet she's made to be a bit anxious by them. No one seems to notice her, but simply moving on... At that moment, I see and felt her loneliness...

How many times have we been nonchalant of the others, the strangers who are just next to us? Many times we show our dismay at how slow the elderly in front of us are, how they always jump our queue up to the bus, or how others who are unable to control delaying your time a little because of certain circumstances...? Sometimes a smile or a little more patience could made the world so much more comforting. An awkward smile to show your apology for delaying others' time, an encouraging smile back to show that you're all right with it, a little more patience to make everyone else less anxious, less upset, less annoyed... And maybe a little more understanding why someone may be so 'anal' about a delay... It's certainly not because we are no longer able to care that we turned so cold today, i think it's because we stop believing other people care; it's a vicious cycle. Why not be the one to start a better cycle, start passing around a little more care, consideration, acknowledgement, as well as a little appreciation?
