Last night was the Sigma Chi Freak Fest party. Patty came in town and we spent about an hour cutting up an Indian costume because it wasn't slutty enough. Mission accomplished. I wasn't as creative. With 10 minutes before we had to leave on the bus, I went home, grabbed a big skirt and wore it as a dress. I was a housewife. I looked like an idiot, but it was surprisingly comfortable. Like a giant mu-mu. I guess you could say I went as my future self.
It was one of those Destination Unknown parties. Of course we go to the shadiest bar in town: The Sahara Club. Fond memories. It's not too bad. It's got a bar and a dance floor and all that. But then it's got this other room with pool tables and a big glass window. So while we're on one side of the wall dancing and carrying on, the Regulars to this place are staring at you through the window, sizing you up, and making crude gestures. It wasn't cool having creepy old men wave their tongues at me. You've really outdone yourself, Spring Hill. Eventually we learned to forget about it. My big brother got screwdrivers for Patty and me and we pretty much forgot about everything. My brother Matt (who recently got carjacked and had Carl stolen from him) came to the party. I've never really partied with either of my brothers. We had a good time. The band kicked ass. Everyone had great costumes. Damien lost his pants. Patty met a boy. And we danced with many random people. I had no idea Spring Hill could be that much fun.
We caught the last bus back to school around 2. Changed into real clothes. Hung out at the apartments for a little while, then piled 7 people into a tiny 5-seater. Destination: Soul Kitchen. (where else?) Justin, Chris Lee, and I sat outside for a time while they reminisced about Holy Family. Ah, good times. (Blast from the past: David Wilson was at the Sahara Club and Chris was at Soul Kitchen. Whoa.) We had a pretty good time there. It was really good to finally dance with Justin after having to dance with all those other guys. Patty and Chris fell asleep upstairs. Funny thing happened. When we went to go get them, I sort of laid on top of Justin for a second just messing around. When I turned around, I see my brother walking up the stairs. Busted. He walked past, widened his eyes, and gave me half-joking look like "don't do anything stupid, you filthy slut." It was almost as bad as it would be having your parents walk in on you... But whatever. It was funny. I got back to my room at 5:30, my usual time for waking up in the morning. So this is college...
I need to go running. And sleep. Maybe I'll sleep first.
