Oh, NBC.  I love you.  Why do you keep pushing me away?

No, seriously.  I've realized, finally, that finding a temporary or disposable job is no longer an option.  I can no longer simply apply to every local job I find on careerbuilder or monster or craigslist, like I've been doing.  I thought that the wider ranger of positions would widen my chances... but it's backfired.  I am, as of the turn of the year, being very discerning about my choices.  What I want is to work in film or television.  That's nothing new, and I don't think I'm remiss in saying my education and experiences have prepared me for such positions.  Furthermore, I've now officially opened myself to positions virtually anywhere in the world.  For a long time, I wanted to stay near home if possible for the sake of my family and friends.  That hasn't changed, but if I don't go for what I really want now, I may never have the gumption.

What all this means is, I've actually been scouring the NBC Universal website looking for opportunities.  I narrowed it down to about 5 I'd like to apply for, as well as the page programs.  Why NBC?  I honestly don't know.  All I can say is that Thursday's lineup really resonates with me.  I adore Late Night with Jimmy Fallon -- watch it every night.  And Kenneth the Page on 30 Rock?  That's a real thing.  The page program has been around since 1933, and helped Captain Kangaroo, Regis, and Eva-Marie Saint all get their starts.

Ugh.  But I really love Conan -- have as long as I can remember.  And there's no doubt that NBC has completely and utterly screwed him over.  Suddenly, I despise NBC.

How silly of me.

p.s. Jay Leno sucks.  Step down, please.
