I don't talk about politics here, but this was just cute. I pulled into a parking spot and the car in front of me had a bumper sticker that said, "RE-ELECT NOBODY". While I was thinking about that, an older woman came up to the car and took a picture of the bumper sticker with her phone. That's what I thought was cute. Wonder if the picture will go straight to FB. Probably.
A friend gave us a gas powered lawn mower. She said it wouldn't start, so she bought a new one. We have a good lawn mower, but Harry wanted to see if he could fix the Craftsman that she gave us, then give it to someone in need. It started after he cleaned the spark plug and put more oil in it. It has a couple of features that Harry likes: There's a plastic window in the grass catcher so you can see how full it is, and you just have to raise a lever on top to release the grass catcher. There's a hose fitting on the mower so you can turn on the water and turn on the mower and the water cleans the underside of the mower. So we might give our mower away and keep the Craftsman.
Ordered a refill of medicine I get from Canada. My last batch lasted a year because my doctor kept cutting down the dosage. In America it's only available if combined with another medicine, and costs big bucks. This refill costs $63.00........for a year's worth. Such a deal. When I went to the doctor's office to pick up the paper prescription, there was a note that he wanted to see me. It said every six months. My memory is that last fall he said that I was well and he'd be there whenever I needed him, nothing about 6 months. I'm not complaining. I love my doctor. He's taken very good care of me for many, many, many years.
We got a good soaking rain two days ago. It made the plants and flowers perk right up. Will be planting again next week. Here are some pictures of (I think) exciting developments. First is a Pink Lady apple seed sprout, with a Pink Lady apple beside to show it what it can accomplish someday.
I noticed as I was taking the picture that the other seed was just starting to push out of the soil. YAY!
The next picture is of a lily that just poked it's little head out of the soil. Also a picture there so it can see what it will look like when it grows up.
Then there's the gorgeous lavender Poppy. God does good work!
And more poppy buds that will be pink, I think, almost, almost ready to bloom.
The Bridal Veil bush that got chopped down to a stump two years ago for porch construction. I was excited to see a fat bumble bee busily helping itself to the nectar, long gone before I took the picture. The green branches are Forsythia.
Really overdid it yesterday, doing errands, getting in and out of the car & truck a hundred times, it seemed. Groceries, library, Dr's office, son's apartment, buffet, with Harry to get lawn mower. The truck suspension was not kind to my back. Did the cold-moist heat-Ibuprofen trick and went straight to bed, forgetting it was Thursday, when I'm usually glued to the TV watching hour after hour of Blue Bloods until I can't keep my eyes open anymore. No, we don't have Tivo. When we got the new big screen TV, we didn't bother (and it is a bother! Everything is a computer these days that has to be loaded, aligned, programmed. Sheesh!) to hook up the DVD player/recorder. I don't watch that much tv anyway. Years ago, I recorded West Wing and lots of other shows onto VHS tapes. There are probably 20 - 25 tapes that I didn't get around to watching. Guess I'd rather be on FB and LJ.
My attention is scattered now so I guess it's time to be grateful.
I'm grateful for Harry, who can fix just about anything.
I'm grateful for all my beautiful flowers
I'm grateful for our "Community" cat. It's just so darn cute!
I'm grateful for family & friends
God Bless
