Driving In The Fog

Jan 25, 2015 20:36

Oh boy! I got to drive in the fog today & yesterday. I love it. I probably wouldn't like it so much if I was away from the city & had absolutely no idea where the road was. But in the city everything looks different with muted colors. Bright sunshine when I drove north to the mall. When I came back out to the car, thick fog. Drove south into bright sunshine to my son's apartment. Leaving his apartment, thick fog in the dusk all the way home.

Went to JC Penney to buy 2 piece men's "sleep sets". They had a few, but all closed with drawstrings in the pants. My son needs snaps at the waist. Sears didn't have any sleep sets. Zero. Nada. I saw Seahawks stuff everywhere! I saw a department store dummy with the fingers bent closed, except for the middle finger. Made me smile. I saw a small blond girl all dressed in bright pink. I told her father, "You can't lose her!" By that time I was pooped. So I sat on a bench in the mall, people-watched for a while, then walked back to the car (and the fog). I'll try to find them on line. Along with Estee Fructose Sugar (I found a phone number on line). It's so frustrating to go looking for a product you've bought at a certain store before (even if it was years ago) and find you can't get there from here. It's a constant frustration, mostly because I hate to go shopping in the first place!

The computer upgrade drama is over for the time being, and I hope for a long, long time! It involved another trip to the repair shop, They forgot to install the video card, so that's why I couldn't find the connection for the cord that goes from the computer tower to the TV. It also involved a house call from the repair shop because we couldn't figure out how to duplicate the computer screen on the TV. Very nice young man (everybody seems young to me these days!) came out & fixed everything up. He made sure we understood all the steps we had to go through to get certain results. When I got home, I realized I'd forget all of that if I didn't write it down.

Added to my list of "Things to do since I'm retired" is make a list of my son's major possessions: TV, DVD player, video camera, power chair, hospital bed, etc., for his rental insurance policy. The list will have brand, serial number, date purchased, amount paid. And equally important, the same type of list for our house & possessions. This might take a while......a long while.

Sixty degrees on our front porch today. We broke the record set in 1935 of 54 degrees. Our porch faces south, so it gets warmer than the official temperature at the airport. I don't mind at all. Ever. My plants don't mind either. Well, a couple of them are picky about being in the direct sun, so they get moved to partial shade. I should visit the plants up in the grow room one of these days. No wonder they die.............I keep forgetting to water them.

Will try to get in to see the chiropracter tomorrow or Tuesday. The car was rear-ended Friday evening, I wasn't hurt, but I'm sure my bones got jolted out of place somewhere. The car wasn't damaged too badly, but will be taken to a body shop or two for estimates. I was moving, but the truck behind me was moving faster. I can't describe the damage.....something about clips being popped out, according to Harry. No dents or broken pieces. When this happened, I was busy with the computer drama, but I stopped, got the driver's information and went on my already stressed way.

Just finished reading "No Country" by Kalyan Ray. Not my kind of book. The different generations of the family roamed from Ireland to Calcutta, India to New York City to Eastern Canada. They author jumped around between generations, losing me completely. The characters were like paper dolls to me, no personality development that stuck in my mind. There are many place names in all the countries aforementioned, which meant nothing to me. 553 pages. Waste of time. I'm a compulsive reader, so finished the book, waiting for the author to bring the story line together. Didn't happen. Next is Mr. Mercedes, by Stephen King. Kind of leery about it because I didn't care for his later novels; too much blood, gore, torture & weirdness. I paged through the book, reading a sentence here & there (which I can't do with Kindle!!) and didn't see anything weird or bad. I liked his earlier novels; they scared me, but I loved the stories. We shall see.

I'm grateful for the beautiful sunny then foggy warm day today.

I'm grateful for friends & family.

I'm grateful for God's Grace which surrounds me every day.

God Bless!
