So, I've been in Michigan for almost 2 weeks now, and the first available appt with my new doctor is not until later this up coming week. So, I went to a clinic today because I was having some not so fun pain aside from the regular pressure I've become used to. And I didn't want to wait another week or whatever. I didn't figure it was labor or anything, I just wanted to get checked out.
So, Clinic. They do an exam, decide to send me to get checked out by a doctor at the Birthing Center at the Hospital, just to be sure. They did say I was dilated a little bit, but that I could sit at that point for another 3 weeks and it wouldn't be unheard of. They also said I was thinned, out, they could feel baby's head, and he's ready to join us soon.
So, I go to the hospital. Get naked again, and chit chat with my mum while I wait for my second body violation of the day. Modesty is out the window. After one exam with your mother present, anyone could walk in and you don't care. That's what I thought anyhow. So, yeah, we are just sitting waiting, watching the print out and listeinng to the heart and movement sounds coming from the monitors attatched to my belly. Doctor walks in.
He shakes my hand and introduces himself. "Hello, I'm Dr. Hall". yeah, no introductions necessary. here is one of my High School crushes standing in front of me, his hand in mine, the same hand with which he will soon throw a glove onto and get to know me quite well. I turn a few shades of red, smile, shake my head in disbelief and say" You are Dustin Hall. I went to High School with you." We chit chat, laugh a little bit, and then he reminds me that I do have to have another exam done to verify my dilation isn't increasing and would I be more comfortable with a different doctor. i decide that's not necessary. We are strictly business during the exam, and back to casual conversation once the gloves are removed. He tells me everything is fine and dandy, I just get to go through the hard part now. Waiting.
Soon is a term used rather loosely. Soon could mean my baby will be born in 4 weeks when he is due, or 2 weeks or maybe even in 5 days from now. Who knows. We just know that things are definitely progressing, and that that is a good thing.
I have been here for almost 2 weeks and haven't run in to a single person from high School, minus Halei and Billy who I planned on seeing. Didn't run in to anyone at the multiple trips to the grocery store, at the bank, at my 4 trips to the hardware store, at the craft store. No where. At least not until I got naked and least expected it.
Hilarious.
