San Japan 2 - Art Side

San Japan 2 was fun for pbjsammich and me! Here's some pictures concerning our artwork.

Friday we got up early and circled around the auditorium in confusion because we couldn't find the entrance for artists and vendors. We got some help from a vendor and made our way to artist alley. This year they split the alley up into two rooms, which kinda sucked, but it did allow for many more artists this year. Lots of wonderful talent! So we set up our table:

Not the fanciest, but not a bad display~! We bought some little flags from Flag World to put on our table. They're so cute~!

We made some 1 1/4" buttons of Hetalia characters which were really popular! So much so that we sold out of them on Saturday. orz We'll be better prepared next time.

We did a couple little trading card art for people. I drew a Denmark/Norway pic for flykiwifly and Sammich colored it~! We collab a lot. We did the same for the small buttons actually.

Then we did an art card trade with ameart. She's just getting into Hetalia. Sammich drew her Germany, but didn't get a photo of him. I drew her Japan with Pochi-kuuuun~!

I wanted to test my copic markers, so I drew that little green rabbit thing that England has on an art card. I ended up giving it to britishunicorn at the end of the convention.

Unfinished Spain postcard in the background. I should really finish that.

We were so happy to meet so many Hetalia fans! And there were a lot of good cosplayers! It was way better than when we went to Jafax, but then San Antonio is a much larger area than Allendale, Michigan... hell, it's probably bigger than West Michigan in general.

Made lots of Canada "Who?" jokes, and while complimenting an England's fairy, Sammich said she didn't see anything. Nice moment there. =x=b

So Friday and Saturday went really well for us, aside from running out of the buttons Saturday. Sunday was rather awkward, since we wanted to attend the Hetalia panel and photoshoot. Sammich ended up going to the panel and I went to the photoshoot. I was gone too long at the photo shoot and by the time I got back they announced they'd be closing the artist alley at 4 instead of 5. Was very unhappy with that, but...

We got a few commissions, including these little keychain commissions, which I really love doing, and they're great for people who want a character that we don't have preprinted, plus they're original~!

Sweden and Finland I drew and colored. Latvia was drawn and colored by Sammich. The rest of the keychains I drew and Sammich colored.

Sorry the photos aren't that great. They look way better in person. They each have their flags on the back.

We still have about 10 keychains left over, so if anyone's interested in a keychain commission, they're $6 USD. Or we can do custom art trading cards too for $3. All full color in copic markers.

Overall we had a lot of fun, and I hope I can go again next year! Kinda hoping that next time the artist alley won't be split up though.

After the convention, Sammich and I went to see PONYO at a local movie theater. It was a cute Studio Ghibli movie, but... very odd. I really loved Fujimoto though. His character design was so fun and he's just such an awkward father, though he really means well. So cute! And how he gets nervous meeting his love (wife?)~! Oh wait, this movie was about Ponyo, right? Anyway, nice way to wrap up an anime convention weekend.

Must draw more Hetalia art~! We want to do a doujinshi. =x=;
