Red Stallion

Tonight:

I saw Jason Dooney and Evan Madden tonight for the first time in six years. Evan is without question the most skilled drummer I've ever met. Even after six years of not seeing one another, he recognized me instantly. He blurts out, "Jamie McCafferty!" and I nod. I don't know why, as we never really talked except for a quick conversation about hi-hats, but we seem to share a bond. Likewise, Jason Dooney is a crazy musical savant, and we share a link just only because we're both absolutely crazy at our cores. He saw me from across the room, smiled, approached, and we hugged.

Evan's band, "The Green Evening Requiem" played well. PS bought everyone a few rounds of drinks, and we all played a few rounds of pool while Chet and PS argued about philosophly.

We played "Texas Hold 'Em" at Chet's for about six straight hours. I managed to double my money by using varied psychological approaches. It was pretty clear, by the end of the game, that I really did know the meaning of "face card," and that I had played before. ;)

I learned quite a bit of useless alchohol related trivia at the the bar. For example: "Mickey's" is a decent cheap beer in deceptively small packages -- a "Skippy" alledgedly tastes exactly like lemonaide [yet, it's 1 bottle of Vladimir Vodka, 1 case of American Light, and 1 carton of Crystal Light Lemonaide Mix] -- a "Four Horseman" is Jack Daniels, Jim Beam, and two other "named" drinks -- two Manhattans aren't enough, but three are too much -- an M and Coke is extremely smooth -- and that Jameson is the smoothest whiskey available.

Jeff was an odd bird. He wouldn't take his eyes off me. He was openely intrigued by the way I drove him broke, as he'd been the high stack for the entirety of the game. He invited me to a poker tornament on Sunday. It sounds interesting from an observationally social standpoint, but I'm sured I'd become bored within seconds. Todd congratulated me for a very "cunning" deception that drove him to empty his stack on a bluff. He said I "deserved all of [his] money."

I haven't seen Carly in two days. I needed a break from that crowd. They remind me too much of what it was like to be sixteen. I'll probably call her tomorrow to see if she wants to hang out once more before she goes back to Penn State. I hope her new girl-toy Sarah moves far, far away. She seems cool -- and I have to give Carly's judgement the benefit of the doubt -- but my instincts reveal a certain level of "snottiness" that I can't shake no matter how nice she tries to appear to me.

Matt SMS'd me. I don't know why he wants to hang out so suddenly. It probably has something to do with Carly, so he can go to hell.

Brendan was having "people over." I would have gone to see people like John, Jenkins, and Sean who I haven't seen since July.

Joe was supposed to come out tonight, but backed out at the last minute.

I really wonder what is in store for tomorrow. I hope it's at least as interesting as today turned out to be.
