Random babblings...not that there is any other kind

Whew! I just finished an essay and turned it in. Now I have to finish one and write two more. One is due Monday and the others are due on Thursday. I can definitely handle that. The one that is due on Monday is kind of interesting to me, so it shouldn't be too bad. I have to write a 7-9 page paper, and I think I am going to do it on sexuality in Donne's poetry, arguing that he describes religious ecstasy in physical terms, not to lower the religious experience, but to attempt to describe it in ways that people understood. This is not, however, linking to the growing Protestant movements, due to the fact that Donne's poetry is so complicated and written in such a style as to exclude the lower, baser elements of society, unlike the movements that wanted to open religion to all levels of society. Also, Donne only circulated his writings in manuscript form instead of using the growing printing industry to circulate his poetry, limiting his audience. Woohoo! I can definitely write 7 pages on that. I'll get to use "Batter my heart three personed God" as well which is one of my favorite Donne poems in which the speaker invites God to ravage (meaning rape) him, forcing the sin out of his body. Very powerful stuff.

Donne is the man.

Also, I have to write my casebook for Deustch which shouldn't be too hard, considering I have gotten an A on everything in her class so far, as well as finish my Urban Politics 15 pager, which is graded in half on grammar, so that comforts me, since my grammar and style are usually good for the most part. Excluding my late night LJ posts, of course. ;)

I have a lot of things that I would like to work on over Christmas break, including a satire of a novel that I read in my 19th Century Women's Lit class. I think it will be fun.

Hmmmm...what else? Not much. My life is consumed by school right now. I have to go grocery shopping tonight because I have no food in the room and I am very hungry. Would go now, but it is rush hour, and I do not want to get out into traffic.

Oh! Layla, I remembered what I wanted to tell you! I will tell you the next time I see you.
