Lemme see, Friday was spent prepping for the Shield Tourney.
Saturday, we got a good start to the day and were on site earlier than we expected to be. This was a good thing. The Shield Tourney started almost immediately. It was designed to be an endurance fight and it was that. We started with a cross between medieval combat and tackle football. Weapons in the center, run in and get something so you can fight with it. We did five passes with that. Then we did one they called "The Full Monty Python". We each took turns as the challenger, and were timed for how long it took us to cut off one another's arms. Then was the duck hunt. Put a small rubber ducky in the center of the field. At "Lay-on" all combatants try to grab the duck and put it into a basket by their place at the perimeter. Lots of fun, but it was timed at five minutes and it was exhausting. I quickly gave up any real effort to get the duck and just concentrated on killing people, since I didn't have to bend down to do that.
That would have been good, except that there were two five minute round of duck hunting. In the end, I got silly and gave up fighting to some extent too. There was going to be a fourth round, a king of the hill sort of thing, but all of the combatants were simply wiped by the end of the duck hunt and the tourney ended there.
I think I did well at the first round and may have been in the lead there, though If so it wasn't by much. I think I lost the timed round. At least it felt to me like it took me forever to cut off my opponents' arms and I didn't stop them from cutting mine off for very long at all. Then I only got the duck once in the duck hunt. I kept double killing the second guy and whoever died first got the duck while me the the other combatant resurrected. In the end, I gave up on the duck, as I mentioned. So I think I stayed in the running on kill total and a few entertainment points, mostly earned near the end of the duck hunt.
The difference between first and last place was all of three points, so it was pretty close all together.
Sunday was pure recovery, though I did fix some sprinklers and spend much of the day outside watching the munchkin run about.
