Five o'clock in the morning. The crisp, winter wind licked at Jamie's face as she jogged against it down the cobblestone paths of Painswick University. It was still dark, and nearly every student was tucked away in their bed; perfect jogging time. No one could bother her while she trained

He usually never ran into anybody but today Travis wasn't alone. He walked towards the figure hoping he wasn't running into a drunken slacker in need of help. That would be just his luck.
"Hello?" he responded. Hardly an answer to the question.

Not that she really knew anyone aside from the Quidditch team.
"It's it--" Jamie reached up to tighten her ever-present high ponytail, "--a little early to be out?"

He suddenly realized the way this could look. There was nobody else around and no reason for either of them to be out at this time. Before getting too close, Travis stopped. They were a few meters away from each other.
"I'm Travis," he offered.

She glanced over her shoulder, blond hair licking the back of her neck as she did. They were alone, not even the sound of crickets to keep them company. A different girl of the same small stature might've felt the fear building in her chest, but not Jamie.
She knew she could take him.
"So do you always wander aimlessly when you're up?"

Overall, he felt pretty stupid. He had never run into anyone and now, trying to answer her, he was realizing how strange this ritual may seem. And now that he thought about it, nobody knew he did this.
Was he embarrassed? Why wouldn't he tell anyone.
"Do you always...do the same?" He was feeling less intelligent with every word. "You're out here too."
ooc: I apologize for any misspellings. My "o" key is sticking...

And as defensive as she felt, he was right. Jamie was out there, wearing only a sweatsuit in bleak winter weather, jogging her morning miles to train for a sport that didn't even start until Spring.
Still, it was normal for Jamie. She didn't know anything else, and hoped she never would.
She zipped her Painswick Quidditch sweatjacket up a little higher, letting the collar slip over her ears, "and I've already slept."

He took a few steps closer to Jamie and felt cold just looking at her. Travis loved the cold but he didn't want to catch his death on his walks. Jamie was dressed for spring while he was definitely dressed for a blizzard. He may have looked ridiculous to bundled up in ear muffs, a scarf, and wool gloves. It may have been cold but it wasn't that cold.

"Ten O'Clock," it was a brutal schedule, especially with final examinations on the horizon, but Jamie's parents had created a well-oiled machine-- on capable of high marks and world class beating, "Getting to bed early is just one way I help the English win games."

Travis thought back to his own passion - building. More than anything he loved working with his hands and building. He didn't quite get the same feeling of satisfaction when he used magic to complete his projects. That would explain the half built boat sitting in his father's garage.
"I've seen you play. You're really good."

"That's why I'm here," she said matter-of-factly, "Coach Mac-- he scouted me from the Canadian National League."

"Do you ever slow down?"

"No," was all she said, saving him the story of poor, over worked Jamie Belanger; child Beater prodigy, "Do you ever sleep?"
Aversion. Good move, Belanger

It had been ages since Travis drifted off to sleep at a reasonable hour. Of course, the weeks following would be filled with busy insomnia. When he got his hands working, it was hard to stop.
"After I've built something I'm happy with, i sleep like a baby."

She imagined houses, bridges, even trebuchets. Each seemed more ridiculous than the last, and ended with Travis getting very little sleep. So, she put her skepticism aside and asked, "build what?"

"This summer I built my cousin a two story tree house. Two summers ago, my dad and I built an addition to his house."

"So you get.. no sleep here?" she asked, crossing her arms over her chest as she blankly stared up at him, "I don't see any boats popping up on campus."
