I just finished reading the Dream Story by Arthur Schnitzler - almost a week after I wrote the exam about it, naturally :P! At least we have Shakespeare, Austen and Dickens, and a number of other pre-20th century authors who are allowed their happy endings.

I was thinking of Jane Austen and Charles Dickens when I was writing that xD. And also to some extent of Arthur Conan Doyle, P.G. Wodehouse and all the others ... see, I don't think that in the German literary culture those books would be considered literature. Or at least Conan Doyle and Wodehouse wouldn't. That's just tragic in my opinion D: (And also the reason why I prefer to read British literature ;)!)
