Uni - the most aggravating place on earth

Dec 03, 2012 21:08

Well, that was a spectacular waste of an evening. Of an entire weekend, come to think of it. God, I hate uni sometimes ... But let's start at the beginning.

Last week I decided that I wanted to write the second to last lecture exam for Chinese, and in order to register for the exam I wrote the professor an email. I had to do that, because he wanted people to register over the elearning platform, and I wasn't registered for that unfortunately. A lot of us weren't actually, and some of my colleagues told me that they'd written him an email, like I did, and he'd said that that was alright and they could take the exam. Well, I wrote that email on Monday last week ... and a second one a couple of days later - no reply. THEN he sent out this email, saying that on Monday (today) there would be a talk about the sandification of China, and we would all have to attend, because he would ask a couple of questions on that talk in the exam on Wednesday. So I went there today, even though it was really late in the evening and it's that time of the month for me and all I wanted to do was curl up in bed ... still I went, mostly because I thought I could catch him before the talk and ask him about the emails I sent. And catch him I did - only that what he had to say REALLY wasn't what I wanted to hear. According to him, namely, there are already so many students registered for the exam that he can't possibly take on any more  - his advice: just take the exam in January! Only that in January I already have about ~10 exams coming up, because all the classes I'm taking right now finish then ... and guess what happens at the end of classes, usually? Hence my chances of having time for that exam in January are about nil. Plus, you know, COULDN'T HE HAVE WRITTEN ALL THAT IN AN EMAIL??? YOU KNOW, THE ONES I SENT HIM LAST WEEK?!!!! It would've saved me all the studying I already did! All the homework and things I could've done instead ... it makes me so angry >:(!

You know what the most ironic part about all this is, however? A couple of weeks back Dad had to come get me from Vienna, because it was really late in the evening and there were no buses to my village. Just as I was getting in the car, an older man asked where we were going and when we told him our destination, he asked if we could give him a lift home, since he lived there, as well. Well, guess who it was? Yup, that same exact professor. Sometimes ... I just can't believe my own luck ...
