Despite it being Saturday I had to go to uni today to suffer through three torturous hours of listening to one of the most misanthropic professors I have ever had ... I think ... well, there might've been one in grammar school who was even worse, but my current professor comes in as a close second. The first time he walked in through the door I swear my first thoght was 'Snape'. He's the kind of guy who asks his students a question, but then completely takes the student who dared to give an answer apart. Because you cannot say it like that and that is a far too general definition of the subject matter and he would've expected us to know more at our age, and if we don't know this by now he'll never be able to teach us the fine workings of language ... :( And of course, when the entire class goes silent subsequently he is all like 'What's going on?! Won't anybody answer? It can't be that you don't know the answer!' *sigh* But ah well - I'll try to keep my head down and just get through his lessons somehow ...
In better news, I finally finished Persuasion and I just loved it :). Anne is really a heroine I can identify with - as opposed to Fanny from Mansfield Park. I have yet to finish that book, mainly because I really can't stand Fanny :(. I cannot quite grasp why she would suffer all this meanness from her family, and just forgive them for it - even find excuses for their behaviour :/. I mean, I get why she wouldn't say anything against them aloud or get help elsewhere ... but to forgive them to this degree internally too? It's hard to understand why she wouldn't even stand up for herself to herself! (I have come to the conclusion though, that maybe I don't like her, because she's too similar to me and my greatest character flaws ... :/ maybe I just don't like to be shown what I view as my most horrible faults. ... That's not good :/)
I can't wait to watch Merlin! I won't see it for at least another five hours, because the stream wasn't working tonight, but it looks like it'll be soooo worth it :D! Argh, I can't wait :D!
