I don't think there is mandated hotness of guys - a dorky guy is always ending up with a girl who is way out of his league looks wise.

Yeah, I agree, and that was stated in the original article.

I'm not convinced "equal time" would actually make me feel less oppressed/depressed?

I personally don't care how the other group benefits; it's the lack of concern for my group's welfare. Because the message it sends me is: your only worth is in your bang-ability. You can learn astrophysics and karate and sharp-shooting, and you're still a pathetic excuse for a woman.

I think you've pretty much nailed it with that comment right there....

Though, the sad thing is that bang-ability seems to be the only thing most people think about. I'm not kidding here, either. Granted, I'm probably biased by the geek crowd, which are (1) mostly male and (2) therefore, almost entirely and blindingly affixed on the bang-ability of anything female-looking with a pulse.

Kinda says all manner of not good things about our society...when sex is the Most Important Thing Ever and everything else is #2, at best. Along the same lines, I tend to think that Hollywood is a mirror for the general public. Problem is which should be changed first in order to change the other: the general public or Hollywood?

But what "dorky guys" in film/TV who get the girl way out of his league are NOT considered attractive by the vast majority of the general public?
