i've just been so busy lately that i have not been able to post.
and i'm so tired now that I don't have anything to say.
I talked to Tim, a regular at the Starbucks I work at, last night. He was reading Ayn Rand, so I was sparked to talk to him. He never struck me as a reader. I always saw him as a pretty boy/player type. Which, he is to a certain extent, but at least he is always trying to be more intelligent. He is in the real estate business, independently, so he is always either on his cell phone or his laptop. Usually him and I talk in a very base manner. Well, since we were on the topic of Ayn Rand, that changed for a few minutes. I didn't ask him outright, but it seems that he is a staunch republican. He wanted to take all of the responsibility away from corporations and governments, and he put it on the shoulders of the general population. I know that for some people, this doesn't seem so bad, but for me it's awful.
I can see the point, I really can. It doesn't seem right in our current societal constructs, though. If big, money hungry, bottom-line focused, publicly traded corporations were not in our society then I could see the personal focus being extremely valid. However, we don't live in that world, and pretending we do is tantamount to living in an ever-present daydream.
word.
