Well, it has been a very long time since I last updated, but I felt that today would be a good day to do so. School is going pretty good. Every test that I have taken has been an A, and I'm still enjoying the classes. I can't wait for next semester already, because I am going to take History II. I really like my history class this semester, but a lot of the history that I want to learn is dealt with next semester.
So, this is kind of late, but you all know that Bush won the election, and due to so called "moral values," no less. I'm not really sure what people consider "moral values." I mean, I do know, but I don't really think "moral values" is completely covered by abortion and gay marriage. Obviously, the church is pleased with this definition, but I'm not. To me moral values would also include tolerance, respect, liberty, honesty, and charity. Bush's support for corporations over people strikes charity from the values list; wanting to make a constitutional amendment against gay marriages strikes liberty. Honesty was taken from the list at the debates and in his advertising. So what's left? Well, tolerance and respect, which we all know he also severely lacks in.
So, where do we go from here? First off, I think that we all need to be talking a lot more than we have been if we want the nation to reflect what we believe in. And when I say "we," I actually mean the people who would be reading this. Move On, while they did a great job of getting the word out, didn't seem to put their focus on the correct things. Many other groups, I feel, failed in the same ways. What is this? Something that I think we were all guilty of; hate, revenge, and the "anti-mentality." I think that maybe we needed to be a little more positive about everything. After all, if anyone said "Why are you voting for Kerry?" most people would reply, "Because I hate Bush." While this was true, maybe we should have been phrasing things differently.
Rant rant rant.
