Wilson gets romantic [Wilson/Chase] R rating, NOT WORK SAFE

Wilson had had a stressful day. Actually he’d had two stressful days and the next day wasn’t promising to be much better.

In the past this sequence of events would have served to drive James Wilson inwards, a retreat into the dark maze of his own thoughts, which drove at least two of his ex wives nuts and had just seemed to make Julie sad. It was tempting to fall back into that pattern even now and in fact he’d had to stop, the BMW literally pausing at a four way stop sign while he gave himself a mental boot in the rear.

True, things were not ideal at the moment and there was a lot at work that he was going to have to deal with but that was no reason to retreat from Robert. In fact, Robert was the one shining light in his life at the moment. A shining light that needed to be shown just how important he was to one workaholic oncologist. Several ideas, which had been swirling about in Wilson’s head for some time now, came together into what was, hopefully, the perfect evening.

Grinning, for the first time in what felt like two days, Wilson made a completely illegal U-turn and sent the BMW back down the road the way he’d come, a hand reaching for his cell phone.

It took him a couple hours to pull everything together and get himself back to the brownstone. Laden with a variety of bags the oncologist wrestled his way into his kitchen and began to unpack his goodies. It was understood that Robert was the stronger chef of the pair of them and while Wilson could make the odd dinner here and there, he wanted to have a couple of Chase’s favorites for tonight so he’d called to an Italian restaurant they both liked and ordered one of their whole herb roasted chickens to go. This was not a normal order for this restaurant but a little name-dropping and some extra cash procured him his chicken.

Slow roasted, the bird was juicy and fragrant with the scent of lemon and fresh herbs and Wilson was careful to store it in the oven at the exact temperature the chef at the restaurant had instructed. He’d also picked up some of the restaurants city wide renowned bread, which was also tucked into the oven, the combined scents filling the house with delicious smells. Out of a pristine bakery bag, he next pulled a rich chocolate mousse pie, which was carefully stowed in the fridge along with the six-pack of Guiness.

Wilson was going to hand make one item, the fresh vegetables he’d bought at the store. Cutting down the medley, which consisted of some of Chase’s favorites combinations as well as a couple items that Wilson knew were perfectly in season, he set these aside to start when he knew the younger man was closer to getting home. Some organic grown brown and wild rice with a special season packet were put on to cook as well and thus prepared Wilson retired to his bedroom to get himself ready.

A shower, a shave, a fresh pair of khaki slacks and one of the soft as sin silk/cashmere sweaters in a dark green color made up his outfit for the evening. An impish grin split Wilson’s face as he set a few items out into easy reach and then went ahead and lit a couple thick, long burning candles in the room.

Barefoot, he padded back down the steps and slipped into the front room, sorting through his CD collection and loading the multichange player with a mixture of favorites, both his and Chase’s before turning the music on, quickly yanking the volume down!!

Okay, food…shower…candles…music…ooo one last thing!

Shoving his feet into a pair of beaten up old sandals, Wilson grabbed a pair of scissors and trotted out his back door. His neighbor was a wonderful older gentleman whose wife had passed of cancer three years ago. An avid gardener the man was renowned for his roses and had given Wilson Carte blanche to help himself as he saw fit. Wilson rarely took his neighbor up on his kind offer but tonight was going to be an exception and the oncologist wriggled over the fence into the older man’s back yard.

Scouring the rose bushes he passed the red ones, touching a couple magnificent specimens but not clipping them. He remembered the beautiful white roses Chase had sent him, unique… special. Red roses certainly were romantic but he wanted something particularly special for Robert. Searching high and low, he made a triumphant noise as he discovered the bush and the bud he was after.

Clipping the rose so that the long stem remained he sniffed appreciatively at the subtle scent. A deep, vibrant lavender color, it was the closest thing to a blue rose he’d ever seen, the bud beautiful, graceful and yet the color was masculine.

Perfect.

Back over the fence he went with his prize between his teeth and once he was back in the kitchen he neatly made up the kitchen table for two. Candles were added to the table and the rose was neatly laid across the plate in front of the chair where Chase usually sat when they ate together at the brownstone.

Checking the time and nodding to himself, Wilson padded on silent feet towards the stove and began to make up the vegetables. He thought about paging his lover but… he really wanted everything to hopefully be a nice surprise so, he was going to put his faith in the younger man keeping to schedule and start the final food preparations in anticipation of Chase coming home.
