When I was younger my grandfather would tell me stories, about him and my grandmother. How they met, how things were for them. It wasn't more than just a few stories on occasional visits, but it was still something. I got to learn more about them, and even about my great-grandparents.
It's from those stories that I know my family comes from... I guess you could say military stock. I am the first in the Air Force, but I wear my uniform with as much pride as my father, grandfather, and great-grandfather did. It's a family tradition of sorts, I guess, and I'm glad that I continued the trend. I didn't do it for them, or for that reason - I really did want to be in the Air Force for my own reasons - but I still like the fact we have that in common. It's a sort of link, I guess, and it just makes me more proud of what I do.
