Screw Basketball, I had the weekend of das cinema.
While I have purchased
Good Night, and Good Luck and
History of Violence. I have yet to watch both Digital Versatile Discs because I am SOOO busy and I am nursing a massive addiction to
Rome: Total War. Anyhow I did see two films at the cinema this weekend.
Firstly, I saw
The Matador which was a very intresting and to a degree downright genious film. THe basic summary is what happens to a hitman (Pierce Brosnan) when he hits a midlife crisis. Greg Kinnear plays the interesting ole of an average Joe who happens to befriend the hitman on a trip to Mexico. The film was an odd twist of comedy and serious friendship with sniper riffles, a winning combination. So James recommends to anyone with the brains to appreciate the subtleties of dark humour.
Then today I saw
V for Vendetta which was amazing. Sadly, I have yet to read this Alan Moore masterpiece but if the film is any indication I should have gotten off my arse awhile back. With references to Guy Fawkes and pot shots at Margret Thatcher and in my mind Ron Reagan by association. While I loathe it when people refer to Bush as Hitler because really all it does is lower Hitler I did not mind this film/books attempt to equate Thatcherism to Hitler. To paraphrase the film artists use lies to show the truth.
Anyhow in other news I was conscripted by Michelle to aid her in her New Deal paper today. Basically, I used two cups of my smarts and a pint of 133t google skills and as Michelle put it a gallon of "James go fetch me".
Lastly when I left the theatre today some creepy panhandler not only begged for change but demanded it and started to follow me. To say I was terrified and that he was unstable would both be understatements.
