Never say it couldn't get any worse. It could ALWAYS get worse.
Joe Quesada has committed many grievous offenses since he became Marvel editor-in-chief. The House of M storyline in X-Men, which eliminated 99% of the mutant population. The Civil War storyline, which saw Captain America get killed and Spiderman unmasked. And now the One More Day storyline, where Spiderman and Mary Jane make a deal with the demon Mephisto to completely undo their marriage to save Aunt May's life. These aren't just cases of making major character changes, this is a case of stripping away the very core of Marvel's biggest titles. X-Men is BASED around freaking mutants! Captain America is a cultural icon! And Mary Jane is a character perhaps second only to Spiderman himself in terms of popularity. How do you take this all away?
Moronic business decisions like this that show a clear disdain for the readers are part of the reason the comic book industry is in so much trouble. If you're a major publisher, weakening your major titles weakens your business. And when you're as big as Marvel, it weakens the industry as a whole. In my simple way I would like to take this as a call to all comic fans to get rid of Joe Quesada and get back to what made these titles great. With all the flack comics get in the mainstream already, being sabotaged from the inside is the last thing we need.
