Some of you will be able to watch today's interview with Lorraine
here (when it gets uploaded) and there are some pics on the show's website
here but I've put a brief synopsis/transcript under the cut for those of you who can't watch.
Cucumber clip from tonight's episode. Daniel and Lance in a swimming pool, Daniel trying to set Lance up with someone. Lance says he'd be interested in someone like Daniel.
James is wearing some coloured tinted glasses and a black turtle-neck and brown trousers.
Daniel represents someone from that generation who found it difficult to come to terms with his sexuality. And is conflicted about it. Says it's complicated.
Talk about Cucumber being a "naughty" show and Lorraine mentions having trouble finding a clip they could show at this time of the morning.
Talk about the multi-platform formats of Cucumber, Banana and Tofu and the different ways people watch tv these days. And about how Banana is about the younger audience and Tofu is internet based and they each show different angles of the story.
Try to work out how to produce Tofu.
Daniel doesn't have scenes with ex-Coronation Street actress Julie Hesmondhalgh but they do show a clip from Coronation Street of a scarily young James. And like many of us he asks "does his mum know he's out?" *g*
Says it was one of the first jobs he ever did.
Talks about meeting Sarah on Cutting It. Did they know right away? In hindsight he says yes. Says in the job your head is in and out of character and you don't always trust how you're feeling. But after the job they realised it was to be :D
Nell is 5 now, hard to believe. Tough to be travelling away and trying connecting on Skype etc as she doesn't quite understand, sad if the wifi drops, he prefers the old fashioned way of talking on the telephone with her as you get a better, actual conversation.
Start talking about Ella-Jayne's death. Talk about the Murray Parish Trust. You don't get over the loss of a child but you deal with it and it helps keep her memory alive through the Trust. And helping other parents in the same position. You have to try and take all the drama and find something positive. And they've got Nell.
Now have to pay for a plane ticket for Nell so it's not so easy to take her around! *g*
The world's a smaller place these days so they can keep in contact easily enough.
James calls Cucumber a "fleshy" show. It's a good drama and cutting edge drama. Very good fun.
And that was about it.
