So I had my training day at CIS today (which I got paid for- SCORE!)
Basically the day involved several hours of training from this guy called Roger Taylor (incidentally, because of his name, I spent this entire time humming We Will Rock You in my head... VERY offputting), teaching us how to do telesales in an effective way. This, sadly, included watching the King of all cheesy training videos from the 80's, by an Australian guy called Alan Pease, which was like, the 8 Golden Rules of telesales, or something. Very funny, but again, offputting.
Hilarious moment in the training sesh, when the guy left the room in order that we call him and he pretends like he's a client, leaving his mobile phone number and instructions as to the reason we are making an appointment for him.
Basically i told him his FA wants to make an appointment to review his mortgage situation because theres some great new policies that would suit him.
He caught me offguard halfway through by asking what Deals we were offering him (which is ideally my cue to say 'not my department, thats exactly what your FA will talk to you about'), and in a panic, i glanced down at some random notes lying on the table and blurted out something about cheaper car insurance, to which he responded with the classic line;
'well, I dont actually live in my car... do you want to try this call again, James?'
as embarrassed as I was (and BOY, was my face red), I LOLed fairly hard too.
also, I instantly recognised my coworker (who was also new) as a guy I knew from school! so we went for a pint after work and chatted, which was cool.
Tomorrow- Thursday I'm doing my last 3 days at DHD, and then the era of warehousery shall be over!
On friday I start at CIS proper.
All very exciting!
Hope every has had/is having a very good monday!
