I've got a lovely bunch of coconuts.

You have enough of, well, you running around, you're bound to have felt pretty much every feeling there is for feeling. Not among my favourites? Uselessness. Restlessness. Gunning the gas in neutral. Yeah. That. The one I've been feeling for, oh, weeks now. The one that doesn't look like it's going anywhere.Jamie had decided to give the glorified ( Read more... )

Tony had managed to convince Veronica to loan him the basketball. Okay, he'd almost failed, but in the end, saying he wanted to get Jamie out of his misery and playing ball seemed a good way to do it seemed to win.

So it was rather convenient that Jamie was already at the hoop when Tony got there. "You know. I was just about to go looking for you."

"Yeah?" said Jamie, raising an eyebrow. The coconut he'd just thrown missed the hoop by a mile but, to be fair, he'd been surprised at the time.

"Absolutely. I thought, hey, IPD partner, a bit of good ol' fashioned male bonding through sport, what could go wrong?" The fact that he'd been in well, a mood, last time Tony'd seen him, nothing to do with it. At all. Much.

"I could make a list, you know," said Jamie. "Of all the things that could go wrong."

Tony snorted, tossing the ball at Jamie. "Yeah, well, let's skip that step."

Jamie caught the ball easily. "But it's my favourite part," he said, just to be a smart-ass.

Tony recognised smart-ass. Usually it was just him being it, not someone else.

"Alright then. List and play at the same time," It wasn't really multi-tasking, and Tony figured Jamie would do it.

Jamie dribbled the ball and started to walk. "Number one: you can trip and break your leg. Number two: I could trip and break my leg."

Tony laughed as he moved towards Jamie, "Three: You could break both legs."

"Four: or an arm," said Jamie, turning his back to Tony as to guard the ball.

"Five; Any combination of arms or legs by either or both of us," He faked to the left, trying for the ball.

Jamie blocked the attempt and started for a layup. "Six: you could fall on your face and break your nose." The ball bounced off of the backboard.

Bounced off, and Tony was there to catch it before it hit the ground. "Seven: O could elbow you in the face and break your nose."

Jamie made his way over to Tony, not in any rush. "Eight: I could elbow you in the face and break your nose."

"Hey, none of that," Tony dribbled the ball a couple steps, taking the easy shot and making it. "I know repressed aggression when I see it. Nine: the ball could bounce off the backboard and trip you, making you fall and scraping all the skin off of knees and hands. And getting gravel stuck in them."

"Ten: That would imply we have gravel. Switch it to sand and make it eleven," said Jamie, catching the ball as he raised an eyebrow. He bounced the ball once and threw it in the hoop.
