So I missed STAPLE this year because of work and no car and I'm bummed about it. I always have a great time. It's always laid back and there are lots of opportunities to just hang out with guests.

I did get to see Watchmen.
Forget all the innuendo of Ozymandias being gay; what was the giant dildo in The Comedian's apartment?
I lucked out again by going on opening day and having a chattery couple nearby me who proved to be lightly entertaining. They did have a lot of trouble following the movie and I guess I can understand that. Overall they were amazed by Dr. Manhattan and thought Rorschach was a wonderful monster and Silk Spectre was hot.
Here are my favorite comments:
The opening 10 minutes
"I thought this movie happened now in the 1980s?"
"She's a lesbo! That's hot! She gonna get in troubbllllle!"
"Why did Robert Downey Junior kill JFK?"
"Stu-Di-O Fit-tee Fo!"
"Robert Downey Junior don't look so good..."
"Is that a big vibrator by his tee-vee? Why he got that?"
Rorschach
"Why he talkin'like Batman?" "Cause you got to talk like Batman! Then they know you're serious!"
"That guy can talk and talk all he wants, but I can't unnerstan' shit wit' his Batman voice. Boy need a eucalyptus!"
"He killed the only other black man in the movie! That's bullshit right there."
best Silk Spectre comment
"You can't be telling me she don't get yeast infections in those clothes..."
Dr Manhattan
(on first seeing him use multiple bodies) "He's a freak!"
(on demonstrations of his powers and detached use of violence) "He would kick Superman's ass. Superman, Batman AND Wolverine!"
(on seeing him full frontal) "Daaaaamn! THAT'S his REAL superpower!"

Afterwards, they decided that Heath Ledger's Joker could probably have killed Ozymandias and Rorschach both. They also thought Hooded Justice should have been black and they called him Hangman. At that moment, it was like being at the comics store.
