Yes, it hurts

During a sparring session at Karate last week I failed to block and my opponent failed to pull his punch. The blow winded me, but the session was almost over, so I rested a few minutes then hit the showers. An hour later it was still sore and I was short of breath, so I decide I should get it checked out and take myself down to the hospital. There was actually very little wait before I was seen, which impressed me. A nurse checked my blood-pressure, then a nurse-practitioner came to examine me, pronounced my breath sounds even and diagnosed a probable cracked rib. The treatment is the same for cracked or bruised ribs, so they don't do chest x-rays unless there's indications of other complications. I get issued with Diclofenac, a anti-inflammatory and painkiller to take after meals and co-codamol, a codine/paracetamol painkiller to take as needed - it's good stuff, but when I took two at work Thursday morning it fairly knocked me for six.

It's still painful, but at a managable level, it's also tiring,  like doing everything at a light jog... hopefully it shouldn't take too long to recover though.
