President or Preacher

I noticed that when there was a split screen up (I watched in on NBC, and I wish they had done this more often), while Kerry was talking, Bush was almost noticably "peeved". Bush seemed irked at every little thing Kerry said. When Bush was talking, Kerry was taking notes. I should go back and watch it again with more focus on the rhetoric, rather than the politics, but that was one definate thing that caught my attention while I was watching.

It's also interesting that you should bring up the preacher analogy. Bush loves to bring $DIETY into the fray, while Kerry deliberately downplays religious aspects (as would be consistent with each candidate's party line). I should have counted how many times Bush mentioned $DIETY in his responses; I seem to recall it wasn't as many as he sometimes likes to. Another thing to do if/when I re-watch the debate I guess.

I do have the debate recorded on my PVR setup, but I'm having trouble getting the export to work (I get the first half-second then it's all corrupted or somethign silly), which is why I didn't email the class with a link. I'll keep working at it. Maybe I can get it working for the second debate.
