MEAN REDS
24 x 24 Acrylic on Canvas 2009
It was very difficult to photograph this paintin. It is very glossy and the digital camera did not like the reds and kept bleeding the edges of the shapes making the image look murky.
The title is a reference to a scene from BREAKFAST AT TIFFANY'S where HOLLY GOLIGHTLY (Hepburn) talks about the 'mean reds' being like the blues except it's when you're affraid and you don't know why or what you're affraid of. This is an imagined landscape --an interior world or emotional plain. I'll spare you the rest of the art speak.
Enjoy.
